How do you rate your health?
Society struggles with creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. From the temptations of fast food, to hurrying from work to your kid’s soccer games, to running errands and finding time to take care of ourselves. Our lives are filled with busy tasks that need to be done as quickly as possible. We are so busy; one thing that we neglect is our health. In our mind set, we think that being healthy is what we see from the outside. We try to eat healthy, exercise and do maintenance routines, like visiting the dentist to prevent problems. One very important goal we should all strive to achieve should be keeping our nervous system in check.
There are many reasons why we need to eat correctly. Our body requires raw material to keep our organs functioning properly. We all know what the food pyramid is, but do we follow it? How many people eat the daily required fruits and vegetables? What can proper nutrition do for our bodies? Proper nutrition is the building block for a healthy body. There are many benefits of eating the correct amount of nutrition. First, it boosts our energy level. Secondly, it assists our body to heal injuries. Thirdly, promotes a strong immune system. Without the proper nutrition, our bodies become malnourish, which could lead to many health problems. Lack of Vitamin C could lead to scurvy and the lack of Vitamin D/ Calcium, could lead to bone loss and osteoporosis. Our body has a natural response to indigestible raw materials. When we ingest materials our body cannot use, the result is vomiting and diarrhea.
The importance of exercise for our bodies has become a popular topic over the past ten years. On a daily basis, society is bombarded with magazine articles and T.V. commercials encouraging us to try a new fitness routine. What these ads may not include is the reason for our bodies need for exercise. One of the benefits of exercise is the boost in your energy level. Exercise also increases lymphatic drainage and decreases toxins in the system. Exercising helps to maintain a healthy body weight. Also helps to keep our joints healthy and increases flexibility. Overall, exercise just makes us feel better and our bodies work more efficiently.
How do we keep our nervous system working properly? How do we benefit from a healthy nervous system? These questions can be answered with one simple phrase, chiropractic manipulation. Think of the brain as the command center of our bodies and the spinal cord is the portal. The spinal cord transfers information, from the brain, through the nerves exiting the spine, to the organs. If the portal is closed the result is called subluxation (spinal misalignment). Regular chiropractic manipulations correct subluxation and therefore open the portal to send the information needed to keep our bodies functioning properly. If the spinal misalignment is ignored, malfunction can occur of organs, muscles, and at the cellular level. The reason for this is because if the communication between your brain, spinal cord and nerves is blocked, the indicators of a serious problem with an organ cannot be sent to the brain. The end result of organ failure, due to non-communication can later cause systemic failure.
In conclusion, in order to keep our bodies healthy and functioning properly, we need to be proactive in multiple ways. First, you must follow a well-balanced diet. Second, exercise to help keep the muscular system performing correctly. Third, receiving chiropractic manipulations, this will help to keep the nervous system communicating accurately. Incorporating all three, as a routine maintenance program, will create and help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
